How to plan a Spring proposal

Spring is a magical time of year. The sun is out for longer, the flowers start to peep their heads out after months underground and there is a renewed optimism in the air as summer draws nearer. There couldn’t be a more perfect time to propose, giving you both something extra to look forward to in the coming years or months.

Of course, how you propose is up to you. There are, however, some ideas that work particularly well at this time of year. Here are a few that should give you plenty of inspiration.

A Beach Proposal

Springtime is a great opportunity to enjoy the beaches without all the summer crowds. If you both love the sea, it will hold special significance for you both. And what’s more romantic than the accompaniment of the waves crashing on the shore and the sand between your toes?

Make it into a real occasion by taking a picnic hamper with all your favourite food and a bottle of fizz before watching the sun set. Then, as the sky turns a brilliant orange, snuggle up in your blankets and present your partner with a dazzling diamond engagement ring.

Take a hike to your favourite viewpoint

As hiking season starts again, enjoy the slightly cooler weather and head to your favourite viewpoint together. As we’re not yet in the height of summer, you can be safe in the knowledge that you won’t be hot and sweaty by the time you get up there.

Proposing at your favourite viewpoint will make the whole proposal much more personal for you both and add greater significance to this particular spot that you’ll undoubtedly visit time and time again.

Surround yourselves with wildflowers

Spring is when wildflowers really bloom, and there’s nothing quite like their whimsical swaying to set the perfect scene for a proposal. If you both love the outdoors, then this will be a really special moment.

Do your research and find out when the wildflowers are in full bloom, and where the best spots are. Consider open meadows that are not being used as farmland and don’t be surprised if you have the whole place to yourselves.

Jet off on a weekend getaway

If you’re a die-hard romantic, then you’ll have dreams of proposing against the backdrop of the Eiffel Tower, on the canals of Venice or on a dinky bridge in Amsterdam. Beat the summer crowds and enjoy seeing these European cities come back to life after their winter hibernation.

With fewer crowds, you won’t spend your getaway queuing and stuck behind big groups. And with more space, you can propose with fewer spectators and enjoy a more intimate moment.
