Skepta, Kurupt FM, Harry Kane & More Star in Nike’s “Nothing Beats a Londoner”

“Nothing beats a Londoner”, the title of the new three minute short film showcased by Nike. The advertisement is a celebration of diversity in London, featuring England striker Harry Kane, Olympic hero Mo Farah and grime artist Skepta who appears at the beginning and end to his hit song ‘Shutdown’. Nikes advert showed many different music and sport influences such as Michael Dapaah, Jorja Smith and Kurupt Fm.

During the advert it displays many stories of young athletes trying to make it in the capital city.  Nikes Jamie McCall said that the “’Nothing Beats a Londoner’ puts a spotlight on this vibrant youth culture and a more exciting, inclusive sports community with Nike at the heart of getting more kids moving across the city.”

Since the advert has released on Friday there has been nothing but positive response, why is that? Normally the British public are the first people to jump up and have an issue. Because it’s funny, such as the short clip in Peckham.  “What’s wrong with Peckham?” People are proud to be part of a city where is acceptance and change is good especially when it comes along with humor. Many people flooded to twitter to give Nike the praise that they deserve for showcasing the London spirit. Throughout the advert many different sports where shown which are used every day…Skepta on a Boris bike? The advert highlights the real creativity and celebration of sports within London. Congratulations Nike, you’ve done it.
