Leicester’s up-and-coming artist Cj Pandit shares his stand-out next move ’If It Hurts, It’s Healing’

Cj Pandit’s new single is a comforting cut that is born to be kept on repeat whenever you’re in need of a boost. Fiercely independent in his sound, If It Hurts, It’s Healing is hard to box in all the best ways.

Taking stock and reflecting on the moments that have shaped him, Cj shared more about the track; I was going through a yearly/monthly/weekly crisis of confidence and identity and just decided to live in it for a bit, to see what I could find and put together. This song was it. Grief is just a version of love breaking down, and sometimes you’ve gotta let things go.

Sometimes, you have to stare in the mirror to see what’s going on. If it hurts, it’s healing is a little adventure into self-discovery and mourning your former self, or something that’s been eating you up and defining your character for a big chunk of time.

After a long and winding pandemic, Leicester’s Cj Pandit has been making every moment count. From scooping tips from the likes of NME and Rough Trade, to nailing a sold out show and racking up over a million streams on his debut EP. He kicked off 2022 with Radio 1 support on both 1 2 Free and Boyfriend, the latter which Jack Saunders described as ‘So funky it sounds like it’s been played under water’, and he’s still just getting started.

If It Hurts, It’s Healing is the third single to be teased from Cj Pandit’s upcoming sophomore EP ‘+44’ and follows 1,2 Free, which was released back in February. The brilliant single scooped love from the likes of Record of The Day, EQUATE and Clash Magazine who pinned Cj as a A devoutly individual talent’. The first single to be taken from his new chapter was the playful, groove-laden track ‘Boyfriend’ which was released back in November.

Embracing his curiosity and love of experimentation, Cj Pandit has been nurturing his growing fan base with his ever-evolving sound.

Inherently driven by the same escapist spirit as Bruce Springsteen, the curiosity of Talk Talk, and the lingering late night lyricism of Leonard Cohen through a truly modern lens, Cj is an anomaly and authentic to his core.

Keep all eyes on Cj Pandit.
