MATT TAYLOR shares three previously unreleased tracks alongside his second EP ‘April 13TH’.

April 13th has a little something for everyone. Whether you want a pop banger, a poignant ballad or something more electro-pop leaning, Matt Taylor has got you covered. The 5-track body of work represents a journey that came with many challenges. Focus single ‘End Like This’ reflects on heartbreak and disappointment, but in the most uplifting way.  MATT explained: ‘I had just come back from my month away when I wrote it, and had decided just before I got back that I would ask to meet. We agreed to meet on a Saturday and I wrote half of ‘End Like This’ before we met, and the other half, after. I know the chat was basically doomed from the start, so I wanted to prepare myself and make it easier! If I knew it was going to end, I might as well make it fun!’.

Sonically dynamic and self-produced the record is an exciting introduction to all the sides of Matt Taylor..

The EP also reveals a new single, ‘Passive’, which is the second previously unreleased track. The intoxicating offering sees Matt try to make sense of mixed messages and contradicting behaviour.

GODSPEED was the first single to be teased from the EP back in February, which Clash Magazine described as ‘music that feels as though it has been beamed in from the future’ and BBC Radio 1 described it as ‘intoxicating’.

‘no matter what i say.’ followed the release of GODSPEED and injects a tender, stripped-back moment into the EP. Variance Magazine penned MATT’s vocals as ‘Mesmerizing’. Additionally, the track scooped New Music Friday and flew straight into the top 3 on the iTunes chart

More recently came ‘April 13th’, the EP’s title track, which offered a stunning insight into the rising artist’s world. Pinned as ‘poetically beautiful’ by EUPHORIA. Magazine, the track resonated with many, scooping further support from Variance Magazine, Ones To Watch, and Early Rising.

Originally from Dublin, Ireland, MATT TAYLOR has been honing his craft over the last few years, pulling inspiration from the energy and courage in music such as SOPHIE’s, and looking to the storytelling and songwriting of Taylor Swift and Lorde.

MATT TAYLOR has been turning heads and winning hearts at every stage since he launched. From Apple Music, to front-page placement on Vevo, and as a Spotify “One to Watch” with consistent DSP support, landing on editorial playlists such as NMF, New Pop UK, and Fresh Finds. He’s also made his mark in the music press, scooping support from the likes of Gay Times, Clash Magazine, Variance Magazine, EARMILK, Golden Plec, and many more.

Now based in Brighton, MATT is driven to create music as catharsis: ‘reading back over my lyrics as a conversation, is a chance to reflect on mistakes and learn from my flaws. I also think that‘s why people easily connect to my music’.

Releasing as an independent artist and sitting on a wealth of chart-threatening, dynamic singles, MATT TAYLOR is someone to champion as your artist to watch this year. Catch MATT TAYLOR live at the following upcoming shows:
