Jimmy, could you share with us a bit about your background? Where did you grow up, and how did your upbringing influence your passion for music?

I come from Marseille. I had a wonderful life with loving parents and family. My mom used to listen to a lot of music, so I fell in love from an early age.

As you’ve risen to international fame as “The Sax Machine,” undoubtedly, you’ve faced various challenges along the way. Can you discuss some of the obstacles you’ve encountered in your career, and how have you overcome them?

One of the biggest challenges may be the fact that the jazz world could dislike me because I’ve had hundreds of millions of views with a simple theme (in terms of technique). I’m really not a technician, but I don’t care. It’s definitely been an obstacle, but you can’t please everyone in music, and I also think if you don’t like my music, don’t listen to it.

Jimmy, congratulations on the release of your new single, “A Million Miles” featuring Steve Edwards! Can you tell us about the inspiration behind this track and how the collaboration with Steve came about?

Steve has a legendary voice in the electronic world. When he starts to sing, it’s magic, and also the way he wrote lyrics. That’s an honor for me! We were lucky enough to meet through friends we have in common.

Your music is known for its unique blend of saxophone improvisation and deep house. How do you approach infusing your signature style into each new release while also keeping your sound fresh and exciting?

It’s a challenge to keep it fresh and exciting in a record, whereas when you’re playing live, it’s a lot easier. But let’s say you always need to keep a space for magic in music.

Building a successful career in music requires dedication, resilience, and a strong support system. Who or what has been your biggest source of support throughout your journey, and how have they influenced your growth as an artist?

Of course, first my family, then my beautiful team around me: my label, agent, and tour manager. I’m like a sponge; I take in everything good around me.

“A Million Miles” has been described as a future summer smash with vibrant pop appeal. What was the creative process like in crafting a song that seamlessly blends elements of pop, electronic, and your distinctive saxophone sound?

I have stopped thinking about making music to create a hit or have success; every time I thought like that, it never worked. So now I am more focused on simply making good music for my taste. I need to be happy, then I hope I’ll find the audience’s heart.

Could you share some insights into the production of “A Million Miles”? What was it like working with producers The Avener and Martin Gregory Smith, and how did their contributions shape the final sound of the track?

The Avener has been a friend for 10 years, and for me, he is one of the best producers in the game! His touch is magic. Delicate, simple, and elegant. The French touch 🙂

You mentioned that “A Million Miles” captures the essence of your journey over countless miles. How does this song reflect your personal and musical evolution since your breakthrough moment with “No Man No Cry”?

“No Man No Cry” will be 10 years old next year, so yes, for sure my life has changed since this song. I have always been in love with pop music, and I’m more mature now to try it!

As a multi-instrumentalist, you not only play saxophone but also perform guitar on “A Million Miles”. How do you decide which instruments to incorporate into your music, and what role does each instrument play in shaping the overall sound?

I’m in love with guitar, piano, and drums. This is the foundation of a solid pop track for me.

Your live performances have garnered widespread acclaim, including a European headline tour in 2022 and upcoming sold-out shows at prestigious venues like the Olympia in Paris and the Palazzo dello Sport in Rome. How do you translate the energy and vibe of your recorded music into your live shows?

I like to do changing the tracks for live performances, like longer versions or solos, and working on lights and visual content to make it special, but the most important thing is touching the heart of the audience by being generous on stage. The stage is my house; that’s where I belong.

Every artist has a dream venue or show they aspire to perform at. What would be your dream performance, and is there a particular artist or group you’d love to share the stage with for that event?

Ok, let’s dream big.. The Stade de France with The Rolling Stones 🙂

“A Million Miles” marks your first release under a new agreement with Claudio Ferrante’s 360° Artist First (A1). What attracted you to this partnership, and how do you envision it shaping your future as an artist? Reflecting on your journey so far, what has been the most memorable or rewarding moment in your career, and why?

Wow, I hope for big things with Claudio; I have only heard beautiful things about him. I’m glad to try this new chapter with him, and some of my most memorable moments is The invitation by the Pope to play at the Vatican for The Christmas Concert.

With over a million followers and hundreds of millions of views and streams, your music has clearly resonated with a global audience. What do you think it is about your music that connects with listeners on such a wide scale?

My honesty in sharing my sentiments through my saxophone.

Your music is known for its ability to uplift and energize listeners. How do you hope your music impacts people, and what message or feeling do you aim to convey through your songs?

The positivity! Always think that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

In addition to your musical pursuits, do you have any other passions or interests that inspire or influence your creative process?

I surf a lot, I care about our ocean, about nature. I also golf so I spend a lot of my time outside in nature.

Looking ahead, what can fans expect from Jimmy Sax in terms of future releases, collaborations, and live performances?

Let me keep that secret.. But not for too long I promise 🙂
